The Rev. Kevin Scott
Greetings cyberites. I am Rev. Kevin Scott, a pastor in this synod and a member of the Synod Youth Committee. I was born and raised in Central Alberta, living my teen years at Rocky Mountain House. I was raised in a rural setting (on a farm) and one of my deepest passions has been for the environment and nature. I received a BSc. degree in Agriculture, before responding to God's call for me into full-time ministry. While it has been some years since I was a "youth" (I am now in my early 50s) I continue to celebrate the wonder and mystery of God's profound love for us. When I was a teenager, I lost interest and connection with the Church. When I was in my early 20s, God truly renewed me in this life of faith. I subsequently was active as a youth leader in the congregations I attended. God in Jesus truly has done a marvelous thing for all creation. God continues to awe and amaze me in so many ways and so many times. This is the story I love to share.
While I never thought I would be urbanized, after serving a rural parish, I was called to serve Shepherd King Lutheran Church in Calgary and have been here since 2002, ministering with a profound group of people. I am married to a wonderful woman, Gaylene, and we share parenting of two chosen daughters who currently are teenagers. I continue to exercise my deep interest in nature and the environment, spending leisure time gardening and on walks with our family dog.
The Rev. Sean Bell
My name is Pastor Sean Bell. Born in a small town in Southern Alberta (Vauxhall), I lived my youth years at Salem Lutheran Church in Scandia, Alberta. These were awesome years of beginning to see what a life in relationship with God would and could look like. Numerous trips and weekend retreats and special events all contributed to formation as a Christian leader. What I do know is that the Youth of our church bring life and energy and ideas. I'm very interested to take my experiences with Youth Encounter, CLBI, Campus Ministry and Seminary and attempt to make possible what God has in store for the youth of this church. Don't be fooled into thinking this is BORING! If you can dream it, we can make it happen!
