The following workshop options are offered to you by the Worship and Arts Committee of the Synod.   The list is not exclusive and the Committee would be most willing to modify/adapt/develop a program or presentation that will fit the needs of your congregation.  For more workshop ideas, check the end of the descriptive list which follows.

Introducing the "Evangelical Lutheran Worship"
An energizing and enriching introduction to the "Evangelical Lutheran Worship" its' overall content, communion settings, service, music and hymnody.  Participants will explore the new and the familiar, and modeled ways of introducing the new to their own worship community.  workshop content is flexible and adaptable according to the needs and familiarity of each worship assembly.

Children in Worship
How can we make our children feel more a part of our worship?  Including children can be challenging and rewarding.  Learn strategies and techniques that have proven successful.

Music for the Small Choir
What can you do with that small but dedicated group known as the church choir?  Responsive singing, two-part harmonies and other examples will show that beautiful music in worship is attainable with small numbers.

What Does This Mean?  Understanding Lutheran Worship
"Because we've always done it that way".  When questioned about our form of worship, is this the only response that comes to mind?  Come to this workshop and be informed of the roots of our liturgy and traditions.

Worship Planning/The Worship Committee and You
What exactly is the role of the worship committee in a parish?  How do we plan?  What resources are available?  When do we need to plan for seasonal events in the church calendar year?  Visualize expanding our concept of seasonal worship using art, space and music.  Using the gifts in your congregation, let us show you how to make worship planning a joyful and fulfilling experience.

Are you planning renovations or a completely new worship space?  We have experts available in the fields of architecture, art, acoustics, and arrangements who who can add valuable insights to your building committee's visions.

Hosting Your Next Conference Convention
In consultation with you, our committee will help to plan a service for your convention using the gifts available in your conference.

Basic Choral Techniques
You've just been asked to direct the choir even though you have no experience.  Or have you been doing the same thing forever and want to know how to do it "right" or "another way"?  Attend this workshop to better your choral directing techniques and enhance your participation in a small choir.   (Also see Leadership Program for Musicians, in another section of the Worship portion of this webpage)

Keyboard Techniques
This workshop could be titled "The Organ for Pianists".  Learn what these two instruments have in common and what makes the organ unique.  How do you merge your knowledge and skill when asked to play in a church where there is no piano?  (Also see Leadership Program for Musicians, in another section of the Worship portion of this webpage)

Inviting the Gifts of Instrumentalists
Find the hidden talents in your congregation and learn how to make use of these gifts in your worship services.  Also teaches transposing skills for other instruments.  (Also see Leadership Program for Musicians, in another section of the Worship portion of this webpage)

Directing Children's Choirs
This workshop will help your children's director by giving techniques and resources that will be helpful in any size children's choir.

A New Organ
Is it time to select a new organ for your church?  As for help from experts to choose the best for you considering your congregation's size, style, and finances, without a salesperson's bias.

Banners and Paraments
Do the prices and selection in the liturgical catalogues appear frightening?  This workshop will show you how to make use of the talents in your congregation to have banners and paraments that suit your worship space, your congregation's style, and your budget.  Construction techniques, fabric choices and design ideas will be offered.  You will find out how easy it is to have custom-made artwork without breaking the bank.
