Our church is getting greener! At the national ELCIC
convention in 2007, a new program was
introduced to encourage congregations to live out
our calling to be stewards of God's creation and to
recognize congregations who show leadership
in this act of faith.
The link underlined above will take you to the
national GHDA Stewardship of Creation website,
which is full of information and links,
giving literally hundreds of ideas for action,
both as congregations and as individuals.
for action. For example, the Stewardship Committee, Social Justice
Committee, Property Committee, Worship Committee, Sunday School,
Adult Education, etc. can all find appropriate ways to encourage
your congregation to be more "green". Youth groups in particular
will want to take leadership in this initiative, as the quality of their
future is dependent on the consequences of our actions today.
of Creation project please contact the Social Ministry Coordinator.
Learn what this program entails and what you can do in your own
congregation to become accredited by the national GHDA office
as a Green congregation.
We believe that by congregations taking this initiative, many
members of your congregation will be inspired to take steps
at home to reduce their environmental "footprint".
This year, give a gift that will truly change a life!
CLWR and GHDA have released a brochure that allows you to give a gift
that warms the hearts of family and friends while helping those in need
elsewhere in the world. Click www.clwr.org to see the gifts.
